Summer Camp

Summer Camp is the quintessential Scout experience, a safe environment to mature and grow as a Youth and advance as a Scout.  Troop 247 will attend camp at Muskingum Valley Scout Reservation in Coshocton, OH on June 30-July 6, 2024.  The Summer Camp theme this year is Wizarding and the magical and mysterious spirit of Scouting.

Programming

Netami Program 

The Netami Program is for every first-year Scout or any Scout who has not completed Second Class.  The whole day is scheduled and there is no need to sign up for merit badges.  Each Netami will complete two merit badges: Environmental Science (Eagle required) and Scouting Heritage.  Special pool time will be scheduled for instructional and recreational swimming.  Every program area at camp will be visited throughout the week. Special events are planned just for Netami.

First Class Program

First Class Skills with Ranger Ron is a program designed for Second Class Scouts to get to First Class.  The morning is scheduled and Scouts sign up for merit badges of their choice in the afternoon.  The morning program focuses on skills needed to attain First Class in the aquatics, first aid, cooking, and eco-con program area at camp.  The afternoon is open for Scouts to complete merit badges of their choice.  Scouts will need to sign up for merit badges and complete prerequisites ahead of time.

Build Your Own Program

Scouts who have completed First Class, Star, or Life build their own program, scheduling activities and merit badges from the various program areas at camp.

PEAK Program

The PEAK program is the MVSR High Adventure program for 14-year-olds or older.  PEAK does not follow a rigorous merit badge schedule or have a set of requirements that need to be completed. It is an escape from the structure.  The PEAK program is for Scouts who have been going to camp year after year and are looking for fun and challenging experiences with fellow older Scouts.

Registration

Summer Camp registration can be completed at https://forms.gle/SdU3gBanKA1yDgY37 (one response per person, please).  Please register and pay for this activity by Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 5:30 pm.

Payment

The cost per Scout is $378 and the cost per Adult is $123, which includes the camp registration and dining fees, camp t-shirt, and Troop snacks and incidentals.  Scouts will be responsible for spending cash for the camp trading post.

Please note there will be an additional $25.00 late fee after March 27.

We will wear Troop colored t-shirts each day, which can be purchased separately at a later date this Spring.

Summer Camp payment can be made to Troop 247 Treasurer Joel Ericson through the following methods, listed in order of preference:

1. Online payment at https://troop-247.square.site/.  Please note there will be an additional 3% processing fee for Summer Camp payments made online.

2. Check made payable to "Troop 247" and given to Joel Ericson, Nathan Ericson, or Curtis Smith.
